UFKES 9700 Upswing grinder
From the initial start-up through to the final job of the day, the 9700 series has been developed with its operators firmly in mind. Carefully considered design improves visibility, handling, and ease of maintenance, while its durable construction, using Strenx® Performance Steel, results in a machine that is stronger, lighter, and more secure. Each element is designed to work in harmony, promoting efficiency, operator comfort, and assurance on site, even under the toughest working conditions.

1. TRACK SYSTEM
Raises and lowers the front and rear of the machine independently, or lifts it evenly, allowing straightforward coupling to both the dolly and tractor without the need for outriggers. It also enables a slanted feed conveyor in either direction, helping to maximise operational efficiency.
2. DOLLY CONFIGURATION
Equipped with air suspension, 385 super single tyres, a storage toolbox, additional screen supports, and a bolt-on kingpin.
3. HEAD PULLEY MAGNET
Designed to extract metal contaminants from the material flow. (optional)
4. OVER-BAND MAGNET
Provides effective removal of metal contaminants. (optional)
5. FUEL EFFICIENCY GAINS OF 30–50%
By combining an advanced grinder design with an enhanced feed system that delivers greater force, along with an optimally matched engine, the 9400 achieves fuel savings of between 30–50% compared with other grinders. This advantage alone can effectively cover the cost of the machine over time.
6. HYDROSTATIC CONTROL SYSTEM
Features a closed-loop hydraulic setup, IQAN control interface, and a wireless remote for convenient operation.
7. ENGINE CONFIGURATIONS
Available with either a 908 hp John Deere engine or a 1050 hp C27 Cat engine, complete with a Flexxaire reversing radiator fan, service points positioned on one side for easy access from the maintenance platform, and a PT Tech hydraulic clutch.
8. ACCESS HOOD
Clamshell design for improved serviceability, hydraulically expendable service platform for easy access.
9. STANDARDISED COMPONENTS
Significant effort has been made to standardise parts wherever feasible. A single hydraulic seal kit is suitable for all serviceable cylinders, while pins, bushings, and related components remain uniform throughout. The machine also shares numerous parts with the 9700, helping to lower overall costs and simplify parts inventory, while supporting maximum operational availability.
10. CHASSIS CONSTRUCTION
Engineered to be both lightweight and robust, using Strenx® 700 material throughout. It incorporates an integrated discharge conveyor with a frame design that minimises material build-up beneath the belt, as well as a fuel tank of approximately 1,325 litres positioned above the discharge belt to further reduce material accumulation on the tank.
HOG BOX DESIGN AND SAFETY
- Bearings are positioned away from the hog box, ensuring no debris can enter the bearing seals. This greatly extends bearing life and removes the need for daily greasing, with grease change intervals of approximately 500–1,000 operating hours.
- The primary anvil is integrated into the top feed roll arm, allowing it to move and maintain continuous material flow. This configuration enables the secondary anvil and screens to be enlarged, increasing throughput while reducing fuel consumption.
- The secondary anvil and screens are safeguarded by a metal detection system which rapidly retracts the screens when metal is detected, helping to prevent downtime and expensive repairs.
- Oversized pins and pin bosses are used, fitted with replaceable bushings for durability and serviceability.
- Bolt-in side liners with a thickness of 20 mm provide added wear protection.
- All components are line-bored after fabrication to ensure precise alignment and fit.
- 800 mm diameter top feed roll equipped with an integrated Poclain MS35 motor, powered by a hydrostatic system operating at 420 bar, delivering exceptional feed force.
- The hog box is bolted directly to the chassis to simplify future maintenance.
- Top feed roll teeth are forged, with 50% carbide-tipped for extended service life and 50% left sharp to ensure optimal grip when feeding logs and trees.

TRACK LIFT SYSTEM

- The built-in track lifting system enables the machine to be elevated hydraulically, allowing for quick, straightforward, and safe attachment to the dolly.
- After coupling, the system can also raise the dolly clear of the ground, allowing both the machine and dolly to be repositioned without requiring a tractor or any additional equipment.
METAL PROTECTION SYSTEM
- The metal protection system hydraulically retracts the grate frame when contamination is detected, helping to minimise potential damage and protect key components.

FEED CONVEYOR
- Fluted profile designed to facilitate smooth feeding of trees and mixed waste materials.
- Heavy-duty open five-strand chain construction for durability and reliability.
- Integrated screening option to remove finer debris and stones before material enters the chipper or grinder.
- Constructed entirely from Hardox 450 wear steel and Strenx® 700 structural steel.
- Equipped with a Poclain MS 18 drive motor with speed feedback for consistent performance control.
- Tail pulley bearing arrangement designed to minimise material build-up.

Feed conveyor measuring approximately 1.45 m x 4.6 m, fitted with a heavy-duty boxed chain system and an in-feed deck with integrated dirt screening to prevent soil and stones from entering the rotor.
